  I had a great two weeks with Atlantic sailing and feel I've learned and achieved a great deal. I started as a complete novice doing competent crew and finished as a Day Skipper. The Lanzarote winds and sunshine provide the perfect environment for sailing. The training and attitude to sailing Richard and Fadwa provided has given me strong foundations, confidence and enthusiasm to begin my sailing life. It really is a whole new world of adventure and discovery, and yes life won't be the same again!

  According my boyfriend, a clipper sailor 2015/2016, is Richard van der Veen the best sailing teacher I could wish! So, I decided to leave the Netherlands and go to Canary islands together with my boyfriend to do the competent crew member course. I completed my course with great success and I learned everything that was required and even more: steering the boat, parking the boat, commanding the crew to do a sail reefing! I learned a lot during my course and I had a lot of great time too.

  Day Skipper Practical I started my week with little confidence but by the end of day 3 I was feeling quite at home. My skills built up Day on day. Training was interesting and rigorous we where able to have a go at some interesting things that where beyond our syllabus ( sailing for MOB drill). The team where friendly helpful and welcoming. The Marina facilities where very good and the weather is brilliant all the year round.

  We were mixed team of 4 different levels, and was never bored, each one got study material for their level (and sometimes for next level too).

  Great family school for any level and any age. It will help you either start from zero, recall what you forgot, improve what you already know and extend your knowledge even more. Fadwa (principal) is a perfect organizer, you'll be amazed how well boat was prepared for study week and how responsive she was during email communication. Richard is a most patient teacher I ever met. He will guide you in any possible aspect of yachting from very simple task to most complex like man-over-board. He speaks very good and clear English, so for me it was very easy to understand what he said.

  I had a great time following the practical skills course with Atlantic Sailing. Fadwa and Richard did a wonderful job in helping us achieve all our individual learning goals. They even organised a fantastic Christmas dinner for us! Yalla is a fast and beautiful, very well-kept boat which is great fun to sail.
