  To add insult, the cost of insurance he charged me was 20% higher than the online quote I presented him. Again, inconsistent and downright bizarre excuses were offered ("sir, this is a requirement from the online broker"; "sir, it is the the requirement from credit card companies"; "sir, if you paid with credit card online then that would be X instead of Y"; "sir, you can ask anyone here, we all do this". The last one is not in fact true. AutoRisen next door does not follow this graft practice.

  The young male dealer, while smiling mischievously, made several inconsistent and incoherent excuses (not for want of communication skills), as to why he was going to charge me for 100% insurance on the rented car, despite the fact that I didn't need it, and had opted to pay for the excess with debit card or cash. (Debit cards are accepted internationally for this purpose). He would not accept any rational input into the conversation. This tripled the cost of car hire, and no doubt gave him a personal cut.
